Travel information

                  Things to know before departure

  • New!! Simplified Visa!! It is now possible to apply for a "simplified visa" when planning your trip to the far south.
    This new visa allows you to come without going through your Algerian consulate.

    Our agency will provide you with a form to fill out and will take care of the process for you.
    We will only need a copy of your passport and your dates of arrival in Algeria.
    This visa also allows you to go to other cities in Algeria before or after your stay in Djanet.

  • Classic visa: A trip to Algeria requires obtaining a visa for most foreign nationals.
    The procedures for obtaining your visa must be carried out at the Algerian Consulate closest to your home.

    Our agency will provide you with a certificate of accommodation support to justify obtaining your visa.

  • Health :
    No special health precautions are required for travel to Algeria.
    No vaccinations are mandatory, but the following are recommended: Hepatitis A, Typhoid, and DTP (Diphtheria - Tetanus - Polio) up to date.
    No malaria. No mosquitoes or dangerous animals.

  • Climate :
    The best time to visit the Sahara is between September and April.
    Temperatures are ideal all year round, but the hottest months are between June and August.

Recommended equipment

The essentials to have:

  • A small backpack for your day-to-day belongings (camera, water bottle, etc.) as your luggage will be difficult to access during the day.

  • Warm clothes for night and early morning (light down jacket, sweater, fleece, windbreaker)

  • Cotton clothing, long-sleeved canvas to protect you from the sun

  • Comfortable but well-worn walking shoes (no need to invest in new shoes that will hurt your feet). A good pair of sneakers is also sufficient. The goal is to feel comfortable in them for walking.

  • Plastic bag to protect your belongings from sand (camera, clothes, etc.)

  • Hat, cap, scarf (typically Tuareg that you can buy on site at the Djanet market)

  • Sunscreen, lip balm, moisturizer (for face and hands)

  • Sunglasses

  • Minimum one liter water bottle

  • Towel or wipes for the toilet (water is precious)

  • Toiletries (toothbrush, soap, etc.)

  • Toilet paper roll, tissues,

  • Lighter or match to burn toilet paper and keep the desert clean

  • Small snack (biscuits, dried fruit, etc.)

  • Your camera

  • Headlamp or flashlight
